Fourth of July in southern Vermont is a one-of-a-kind, personal experience. The Deerfield Valley’s Independence Day celebration kicks off at 9am with a street fair in the historic village of Wardsboro, and a parade starting at 10. The floats are handmade and creative, featuring local businesses and organizations. The street fair showcases local artisans, selling everything from clothes to pottery and crafts, with a wide variety of food vendors offering numerous cuisines.

Come for the parade, and stay for the celebration of Vermont culture in a picturesque setting. The Wardsboro Library will be holding a book sale, the Town Hall will have a chicken barbecue and pie sale, and a quilt show is on display in the Methodist Church. From 1-1:45, the New England School For Circus Arts will be performing a world-class acrobatic show. The Library Red Barn will be hosting a show of local artists, open all day on July 4th and 5th, free and open to the public.

At 6 pm, head to Baker’s Field, behind Twin Valley High School in Wilmington for a 4th of July party sponsored by the Mount Snow Valley Chamber of Commerce. There will be live entertainment, local vendors, and a fabulous fireworks show from dusk to 9 pm. Free transportation to and from designated parking sites is provided by the DVTA Moover bus. *Rain date is Friday July 5th.
