The Deerfield Valley is Going Bananas…err Blueberries!!

blueberryNew Englanders sure love their Blueberries! To celebrate the little sweet-tart berry, the 7th Annual Deerfield Valley Blueberry Festival is just around the corner with lots of blueberry-inspired music, food and fun. Kicking it all off on Friday July 25th with the Blueberry Festival Parade in Wilmington and a benefit Blueberry Ball at Mount Snow, there is so much going on over the 10 day festival we couldn’t possibly list it all for you, so check out that link above for the full event schedule. There’s sure to be something for everyone- a pancake breakfast, a scavenger hunt, and the “Blueberry Splash Parade of the Boats” at Lake Whitingham on July 31st! Blueberry Fever has even got local merchants offering specials at shops and restaurants throughout the valley.

If festival crowds is not your thing, then try tracking down all 23 of the giant Adirondack chairs throughout the valley for Mountain Chair Madness.

RO Chair Similar to last summer’s “Best Seat in Vermont” campaign, these chairs are painted by local artists and will be displayed throughout the valley through early October. Come fall they will be auctioned off with proceeds funding future area events and the original artists themselves.

Another great excuse to get out and enjoy the beautiful summer weather is the Historic Walking Tour. Stroll through downtown Wilmington while learning a bit of local history. This self-guided tour highlights 25 historic sites. And if you need to stretch your legs a bit more or maybe even go for a bike ride, then try the Valley Trail, a 14-mile network of trails that now connect from Wilmington to Dover.

Maps for Mountain Chair Madness, the Historic Walking Tour, and the Valley Trail are all available at the Mount Snow Valley Chamber of Commerce office in downtown Wilmington.

Enjoy summer in the beautiful Deerfield Valley!
